I got the Mouse with my iMac.

Thinking of buying a Magic Trackpad.

Thoughts?

It's for general computing stuff.

When I got my first Mac desktop in 2008 or so I initially used the Magic Mouse. At some point and I don't remember when tbh I tried out a trackpad and have been using it since, must be going on 10 years or so. Wouldn't want to use anything different.
The trackpad for me is just like the trackpad on a MacBook just bigger and more comfortable to use

That’s mad, because I got my first Apple Product in 2008: An iMac!

It came with the Mighty Mouse (I believe they had to change the name, because of licensing.)

I think I’m going to get the Trackpad.

Mine was a MacPro ... it was an absolute beast and got replaced with a 27 iMac in 2017...
how do you like the trackpad on your MBP compared to the mouse on your iMac? That should help answer if you're going to like the trackpad...

The trackpad is more versatile, I think.

All of the gestures, you actually forget it’s there, if you know what I mean?

Steve Jobs used to say that good design removes the “barrier” between the user and the product. I’m paraphrasing, but you know what he meant.

The Mac Pro was a beautiful machine.

I loved my iMac, and it actually got me into photography.

The trackpad has been causing my carpal tunnel to flair as of lately. I'm stuck using an ergonomic mouse and bending my wrist as little as possible.
Same here - had to go MX Vertical and now the Logitech Lift (much smaller - but keeps my wrist happy).

I was much more of a fan of the Trackpad vs the Apple Mouse.

I have both in use. I mostly use the trackpad, let's say 90-95% of the time. Only for some things I find the mouse more convinient for some reason.

But I think the trackpad is the number 1 accessorie for a mac. Great product.
Many thanks, Susan.

I’m practically sold on it.

Will likely get one next week.

👍🏼

I have both but use the trackpad much more. Though the past few days I’ve used the mouse for aiming in Cyberpunk 2077 alongside a Sony DualSense PS5 controller for all other controls.

I use both the Magic Mouse and the Trackpad. I have used both for so long that I can't even tell you what each is used for. It just comes naturally. I probably use the Trackpad for scrolling and the Magic Mouse for choosing items individually. My desk accommodates both along with the Keypad, so I use all three.

I used a trackball and an Intuos tablet then switched to the magic trackpad when it came out. Never have liked mice.

I used to use both, when I had an iMac. Left hand for trackpad gestures and cursor sometimes, right hand for cursor mainly. Now I usually have TourBox left and Wacom/Trackpad right, on MacBook Pro.

For the most part, trackpads cause me discomfort. I am a fan of an ergonomic mouse, and I find it much easier to use than a trackpad. I know there are a lot of gestures on the Apple trackpad (I have an MacBook Pro) but I hardly ever use it. I'm not saying it's bad, it's just not for me. I also use a mechanical keyboard... :D

Edit: I was always a fan of the IBM Thinkpad "eraser-head" tracking device built into the keyboard. I know a lot of people didn't like them, but for me, it was awesome! Haven't used a Thinkpad since IBM sold it to Lenovo

I'm left handed, and all of the ergonomic mice I've seen are right handed, so I haven't bothered to research them.

I'll buy the Magic Trackpad, and give it a go.

It's nice to have options. I can switch between the Magic Trackpad, and Magic Mouse.

Thanks for your feedback.

I have a Magic Trackpad sitting next to my iMac, but I find it exhausting to use for any length of time.

I use a Logitech G305, which is a light, precise and excellent mouse.
Thanks for the reflection.

If it doesn't agree with me, I always have the 14 day return policy, so I can give it a good try.

Logitech makes a left-handed version of the Lift.
Thanks for letting me know.

When it comes to comfort, I found the Mighty Mouse more comfortable than the Magic Mouse. But of course, time changes and designs evolve.

I don't think the Magic Mouse is bad, I just find the trackpads on my MBs to be more intuitive.

I'm looking forward to trying out the Magic Trackpad.

I've tried both of those, but discovered that they were near impossible to lift up when I got to the edge of my mousing surface and had to re-center. Otherwise I'd likely still be using one of them.

Been a 100% trackpad user since I got a 5k iMac in 2017 and got it with that rather than the mouse since I had been exclusively on MacBook Pro before that. Just retired the iMac and upgraded to Mac Studio and still rocking the trackpad.
