Would have preferred that it was truly like the MBP and not relying on feet for the click...

Doesn't "rely" on the feet for click. You can tap, just like the MBP. Making the whole surface move like the MBP would have been awkward. I use tapping, and don't like the click, but I the way they designed this to work for clicking (with the feet) feels natural.

Sounds perfect, except for losing access to one on/off switch and one battery compartment. I suspect the mechanical coupling between the two would also render the trackpad useless as a clicking device so actually not perfect at all. I'd rethink the Obiwan handle, it's not quite you somehow.

What a bummer. I thought we'd at least see some third party product that couples the two together.

I hope we'll see an Apple Wireless keyboard with integrated Magic Trackpad sometime in the near future. I would prefer that to two seperate devices like this.

I hope so too. So many Mac Mini users crying out for one. (Could be good for iPad users too). I can't see it myself through. Apple would never create a lop-sided product, or two separate devices that do the same thing (ie one for lefties with the trackpad on the left, and one for righties with it on the right.)

Plus two separate accessories that individually priced are over £50 (in the UK) - as one product this would cost £115!! - A bit steep for a media centre keyboard/trackpad combo.

Tempted to email Steve and ask him myself...

I think Apple is reading my MIND!

I recently sold my Alu unibody Macbook for an iMac and hated the loss of swipe gestures, i hate having the move the mouse to corners or reach for the keyboard.

I was so used to swiping all the functions i need!

Also, this will be great for controling the mac powered TV from the sofa. Mice and joystick controllers really suck for that duty.

What about 2007 MBPs?

Still confused about whether the MT will work correctly with the older Intel MBPs that don't support 3-finger swipe. The software (only) update specifically states that THAT does NOT support those MPBs.

So does the MT bring all its gestures to these old MBPs? Can someone who bought a MT and has a 2007 Intel Duo Core MBP please report?

Thanks!

It'll work with the magic trackpad, but not the built-in one.

I am a looooong time trackball user and decided to give this a go - bought 3 of them for around the home office.

After a couple of hours of use - :D :D :D

Could not be any happier - Apple just keeps delivering innovative products that I enjoy using.

Thumbs up !!

You can extract the files the Bootcamp download using winrar which leaves you with the msp (Microsoft patch) file.

Once you have that you can extract the files from the MSP with the tool from here: http://blogs.msdn.com/b/heaths/archive/2006/04/07/571138.aspx

Once you do that rename PCW_CAB_BootCamp to PCW_CAB_BootCamp.cab and extract those files. All the other files titled "#BootCamp3135xToBootCamp3135" can also be renamed to end with .cab and be extracted (only the files larger than 2mb; the ones smaller than 10k aren't valid cab files).

I played around and found a really simple method to set up the Magic Trackpad. That being said, your idea is a lot more clever, since it won't install any extra drivers. I was thinking of doing it that way, too, but I'm not as smart as you, and anyways, once I figured out you don't need to do any hacking, I just did it the easy way. :)

Just got one this morning...

I'll probably break it out later next week after I get the battery charger delivered.

Appreciate this post so I know what to do whenever I get around to setting it up.
