Magnet

Hello, i just realized that i only had magnets on the left side when closing the lid..

Is it normal? Do you have the same thing?

My original one had that problem but I have since gotten a replacement that doesn't have the issue. I got mine replaced because of a dead HDD, the magnet wasn't really a noticeable issue only that it was really easy to open and sometimes when holding the laptop on an angle it opened slightly.

I don't know what i would suggest doing, I suppose if it bothers you get it fixed or replaced if you are still within your return time 🙂

How bad is the problem?

I just really noticed the problem. When i have it in my hands, you can see that one side is half open and it opens really easily...

I bought my MBA Feb 9. So i guess it's a bit too late?

I still have the basic 1 year warranty...

i think all of them have magnets only on the left. mines the same too

I just tested mine and it only has a magnet on the left. I don't think there's room for one on right w. ir remote receiver or sleep light.

I looked at this about the same time I looked at the other thread about the gap. I don't think there's a magnet on the right side or if there is one it's not nearly as strong as the one on the left hand side. Mine does close all the way though.

After reading your issue, and regardless of what others say about normality that only a magnet on the left side is there, have every right to be paranoid about it! If you aren't satisfied with a minor issue with an expensive notebook, get a replacement. I would be, regardless if it's normal or not.
