Is it just me or is this a great idea ? https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/2024830331/nearbudstm-for-airpodstm-magnetic-clips-with-a-saf

It has not got many backers but I like the idea. I probably wouldn't use it all the time, but it would be a nice thing to have.

My only thoughts are this may not work, because the magnets (Magnetic field) could interfere with the drivers, Bluetooth reception, charging or internal components with the AirPods from working properly.

Just my two cents... If I wanted a wired pair of Bluetooth earbuds, I'd buy the Beats X. I know this gives an alternate way to carry/store them, but the beauty of the Airpods is their truly wireless form and the carrying/charging case. I just don't see the market for these. I'm not saying they won't make their funding goal or that they won't bring them to market, but I don't know that they'll be a sweeping success.

Again, just one guy's opinion.

I agree, but I think it's a good way to keep the outside the case if you just go into a shop or something like that. I find if I order a coffee or something that requires talking to someone I tend to take an AirPod out of my ear and just hold it for a while.

It's not something I would use every day but it may be useful to use from time to time.

no there are plenty earbuds with magnets and I made my jaybirds with them.

That may be Steve and you modified you're own Jaybirds. But the Airpods are NOT tested or designed to be used with external magnets, unless Apple states it's clear for Aftermarket uses, then don't do it. Regardless if it does or does not affect the performance, I would be willing to gather Apple wouldn't recommend it (Aside from any magnets already OEM assembled).
