Other Magnets shining through on back of brand-new iPhone 12 Pro Max

I just unboxed my new iPhone 12 Pro Max and noticed that on the back there is a half-circle shining through the metal around the Apple logo. It's almost as if the magnets shine through on the left half while they don't on the right.

Has anyone else noticed this issue on their IPM? It's visible best in good light and from an angle but if you look closely you should see it all the time.

I'm hesitant trying to wipe it away with alcohol, using slightly wet fingers alone hasn't done anything yet.

But seriously, I didn’t notice it on mine but I slapped on the Apple leather case pretty quick.

On my gold 12PM I don’t see that. Regardless slapped on a spigen case right after.

Looks like marks from the Magsafe charger. I know you hadn't used it yet but that's exact what it looks like when you use MagSafe.

That's odd but I had exactly the same thought regarding Magsafe. This was a launch day delivery and I wonder whether they test the Magsafe feature in the factory before shipping them out. Might be a mark from such a test, I guess I will have to get out the alcohol wipes after all.

I have the same phone and have been using MagSafe since launch, no marks on mine.

What's more frustrating is that the Apple logo is not even centered inside the magnet ring.

Was it cold? As in straight off the van and unboxed? I “think” I saw it on mine when it was cold but I left it to warm up before switching on and didn’t notice it from that point onwards

It had room temperature (I could only open it today, even though it was delivered on Friday) and the stain was there from the moment I opened the box. After water on a cloth didn't do anything, I got some alcohol out and was able to rub it off after a while, phew! It's still very odd that it came with this stain from the factory. If it hadn't been a launch day delivery I would have said it was a used / returned phone.

lol you act like that case is a sealed vault with no one able to open it ever again. I have an Apple leather case too and I take my 12 pro max out of it once a day to admire, then I wipe the sides with a microfiber and put it back in. Luckily, even with the closed bottom, ingress and egress hasn’t been too much of a problem
