Magsafe 1 Extension Cord?

Is the extension cord that comes with Magsafe 1 power adapter "exactly the same" extension cord that comes with the Magsafe 2 power adapter? For example, if you had an extension cord that originally came with a Magsafe 1 power adapter originally, could you attach that to a Magsafe 2 power adapter? And even if it does successfully physically attach, is it safe to do so?

Yes, they're the same. Only the plastic at the plug end has changed design a bit.

They are exactly the same connection. Hell, I've used extensions back from the Apple Power Connector days on the current ones and vice versa. The duckheads are fully interchangeable.
