You raise a good point. Now that I think about it, I bet most of the people who have had these problems were very "mobile" in that they are constantly wrapping up and unwrapping their adaptors and thereby fraying/damaging them in some way, and eventually having problems. Just take care of your cords and adaptors, and like ANY piece of machinery or technology you should do periodic inspections.

I have been in both worlds. For a year I had my MBP on a desk 99% of the time. The past 6 or so months has seen me on the go with the magsafe at least 4 times a week and packing the magsafe away about 4 times per outing. I just make sure that the cord isn't kinked while wrapping and to not bend where it comes out of the brick to much (even with the protector).

If someone is really worried about the cord coming apart, get some white electrical tape and wrap it up nicely.
