Any third party pucks users here?
Baseus has two models of pucks and Ugreen also has one as well.
Wonder if these cheaper pucks actually produce less heat than Apple ones.

I returned mine. Was not just warm, it was hot. I was using the recommended new Apple 20w adapter.

I have modded third party Magsafe car mount (see in Magsafe car mount thread)
Yes it produces some heat, however i plugged into a 5w Apple official brick charger!
My Airpods Pro case was really hot

Update: its less warm than before
My iPhone 12 Mini was charging all night long
Same for Airpods Pro, both less warm then before

Pros
  • Rectangular/square shape design
  • Larger surface overall
  • Strong hold/magnet, approved while diving in the car
  • Removable cable usb-c (usb-c to usb-c or usb-c to usb-a)
  • Limited quick charge (up to 15w, i was getting nearly 14w with cig lighter quick charge but i never tested with brick charger)
  • Not that warm
  • Only 15/20 bucks, really affordable
Cons

  • DIY, you have to disassembly it
  • Small blue led that indicates when its currently charging (next to usb-c port), it doesnt bother me since its not that bright but its still there
  • Unofficial Magsafe, so not real quick charge there (20w)
  • As car holder, i would suggest other model, air vent fixation is little crap in comparison of other models

New 12 PM user here. My sister also upgraded to 12 P and we both use Apple chargers with MagSafe. Mine is the one that comes with 11 PM and hers is the one that comes with new iPad Air which is 20W. Not sure about mine as it's erased (or was never printed)

Both gets very hot. I understand wireless charging causes some heat, and I tried to convince myself -before buying- by watching some youtubers showing how hot it gets with thermal cams and so on.. Still not comfortable heating the battery up to that level.

Today is my 2nd day with 12 PM so last night and earlier this morning was probably spent with processing my iCloud data downwards. I will keep observing the heating pattern and report back in a couple of days.

It can be pretty warm when its charging but it will be cooled down pretty quickly
I also notice it can be warm when its wired charging
Do not worry, i dont think so it can hurt battery health

I have been MagSafe charging daily (overnight) since release date... still on 100% battery capacity.

iPhone 12 mini user here, and I am using the Apple brick.

Does your 12 mini get very warm, or hot, while charging?

Got my preorder ready to go, starlight 128GB.

I have been working hard to kill off my current mini battery since launch… down to 90% capacity hehe. Pure MagSafe charging, never plugged in once.
