It appears Apple has updated the MagSafe charging puck AGAIN for the iPhone 17 series. It says "NEW" above it on Apple's online store and looks like it has a different model number than the one released just last year for the iPhone 16 series. What is going on? Why would they change this so quickly? What's actually new?

The update is for the Qi2.2 25w update. And it's funny because Apple has it listed in the description as the iPhone Air supporting the 25w MagSafe fast charging, but IT DOES NOT... If you go to the comparison page, the iPhone Air DOES NOT support the 25w MagSafe, it's limited to 20w.

Right, but what apple says isn't wrong. "Up to" is the key word here. The iPhone 16 models don't support 25W either (those are limited to 22W).

For faster wireless charging up to 25W — up to 50 percent battery in around 30 minutes for compatible iPhone 16 models, iPhone 17 models, and iPhone Air when paired with the 30W USB‑C Power Adapter (sold separately).
