The new Magsafe duo is apples must frustrating product.
I have a iPhone 8 Plus and an Apple Watch Series 6. As a charging brick I use Ankers 20W USB-C Nano III Brick.
Even though I do not believe it is caused by the brick, the charging speed of the iPhone 8 Plus is horrible. It sometimes does not change the percentage in 20 min, when something is running in the background like the photo library. Even though I know it won‘t charge fast, I expected similar speeds to my ikea QI Charger with a 10W brick, which is roughly the same speed als a 5W brick connected directly via lighting.
it is not even close. It feels like using a 2W brick. It ist much faster to charge the watch, unplug the cable and charge the phone directly. And you‘ll have 6h left to spare. I will update this post with some screenshots after charging it over night.
Someone else have this experience?

Yep, saw this recently. Anyway, Apple „recommends“ the Magsafe duo for me and my 8 plus

Do you still experience the same problem? I'm planning to get a Magsafe Duo for my fiancée's birthday present. Seems like a nice and useful thing because she also uses iPhone 8 Plus along with Series 5.

If the problem persists, I'm going to look out for another present.

I don't see why you'd get a magsafe product with an 8+?
If she's not too into tech I'd really consider to get her something else than that

Extremely slow charge with non-Magsafe iPhones may hinder the functionality. Oh yeah she's into tech alright. I just wanna make sure it works as advertised. Look, I'm not asking for anything fancy here because I know she doesn't have the latest iPhone, but I'd settle for 7.5 watts standard Qi charging for her 8+.

There are now a metric ton of magsafe duo knockoff and similar designs less travel-focused available on AliExpress. The downfall of those for me is they only support standard QI charging, which I think would be a bonus for you.

Thankyou for the idea, but I’d rather get the original Magsafe Duo since I don’t know maybe one of us may upgrade our phone soon.

But in the meantime, just wanna make sure the Duo workable with her current setup, despite not having the best charging speed.
