Next is the fact of the way they went about this. New iPhones don't come with a charging brick, but a useless USB C to lightning cable. They even stopped selling the old charging bricks to have a brand new 20 watt USB C one that so happens to be the only one that works with this new $40 wireless charger that Apple is selling (and it's fancy because magnets), but it barely works with any older iPhones as well, but you might as well buy one on your return trip to the store buying that USB C brick as its only twice the cost anyways (and why not throw more money at a $1000 phone that can't charge itself). This all seems to be by design to make the most people buy these products as possible and generate the most profit possible.

Also there are those people pointing out this is really just Apple trying to avoid putting a USB C port on the phone itself and instead generate all these discussions about their new MagSafe chargers and also disguising that they are charging more for phones without headphones either beyond the charging bricks, and this will allow Apple to start selling portless iPhones in the next few years with not as much anger at that time. Those people are correct about the fact that Apple is touting itself as green friendly and has these new features to outweigh the fact that they are blatantly ripping people off, although I'm not so sure about portless iPhones coming that soon giving they are touting the fast charging at the same time, but it does seem to be an end goal .
Well, when Qi charging was added with the iPhone 8 and iPhone X, you also had to buy a Qi charging pad separately. Does this make Qi charging in those phones any less useful? We also know that any PD 3.0 charger will do just fine (of course, it has to have enough power).

And for four years, Apple has been mocked for shipping iPhones with a USB A cable while its laptops only had USB-C ports. Now it ships with a USB-C cable and it is getting slammed for it. Conclusion, whatever Apple picks some will be unhappy and some will only ever be happy if Apple ships its devices with both USB A and USB-C cables (yet others will then be unhappy that Apple is wasteful by shipping two cables).

It also show how illogical people are by complaining that some will have to buy a $19 charging brick but not being bothered that the iPhone 12 costs $100 (or even $130) more than the iPhone 11.

I just got a Magsafe charger for my 12 Pro. I use the power brick that came with my 11 Pro (the 18w charger). There's plenty of tests online that show minimal difference in performance between the 18w and 20w charges when used with the Magsafe.

So at night I get up multiple times to deal with my T1D son's blood sugars, taking my phone with. It can be a challenge to find the sweet spot again on the ESR and RavPower chargers when I return, especially with the 12 Pro Max camera bulge.

I decided to use a 3M Dual Lok strip to mount it to my bedside table, that way I can detach it when I travel, but otherwise, it is fixed in place. In the middle of the night, I can grab my phone, head to son's room, then when done, the magnet makes finding the sweet spot for charging trivial. With the 3M I can grab and go, but keep the benefit of the magnet. The small size means that the camera bulge is not an issue.

100% this, I've done the exact same thing; actually the one I used is heavy duty velcro, and it has the advantages you mention.

I think it's a major oversight from Apple not thinking about making the magsafe puck attachable to the surface, other implementations like Palm Pre (in 2009!) had a sticky base that would 'glue' to a surface.

Can anyone recommend a magsafe compatible car charger that supports fast charging? I am using mine as a car mount and the charger I have does not charge at full speed.
