I’m thinking the MagSafe cable at 1m is too short for me. Is there an extension cable that will give me another metre and allow me to utilise the 15w power? Sorry, I don’t really know what I’m looking for in a cable 😳

This was my concern too. I'd love to utilise MagSafe, but realistically I need a longer length than what's currently being offered. I'm going to get a 2m/3m braided cable (MFI certified) for the time being, and wait to see whether a 2m MagSafe Charger is released, as well as any potential mounting options for a docking solution.

Thanks all. Not sure why there isn’t a 2m version tbf!

I’ll order the cable now And roll on tomorrow!
I bet they will, once demand settles down a bit... There's history of adding cable lengths at a later date.

I'm irritated though that they didn't put a USB-C or lightning port on the puck and make it removable/replaceable. The cable join looks like a failure point to me, and it's wasteful to have to bin the puck when the cable inevitably fails. I wonder if someone will offer a puck with a removable cable in future.

Am seriously considering returning my MagSafe cable and just waiting until the duo is released

Thanks for the recommendation, kind stranger.

Please post how well it works. I've had mixed experiences with USB C extensions in the past on data relays from Macs to USB C hubs but hopefully since this is just power it will work.

usb extensions should work but also will probably not charge at 15 watts like normal. Id do some testing.

This is why I’m waiting for Anker to make a longer one.

I just don't get it. It makes so much more sense to put a USB-C port on a device/charger than an unremovable cable. Apple Watch chargers, MagSafe, HomePod... what's next? A Macbook with a fixed charging cable?!?

No.

Just put a regular port on the thing and each customer can decide which USB-C cable to use. 30cm, 1m, 3m, whatever. I'm really sick and tired of these proprietary chargers / cables / combos.

That’d also have made my life a bit easier right now

So, did anyone get their USB-C extension cable and use it with the Magsafe charger? Are you getting the full 15W of power?

The Faracent posted above works. With my multimeter, I was getting full power output of 15 watts. Well technically, it draws up to 20 watts from the block but there is inefficiency.
