I noticed on Apple's site that the low end 15" MBP (2.53) only has a 60W MagSafe while the other 15" MBPs have an 85w MagSafe. Is this solely because of the additional graphics chip?

I assumed they would all have the same battery and would all share the same charger.

Has anyone opened a 15" MBP 2.53 up yet? I would be curious to see how much it differs internally from the other models (if at all). I assume it would still have the 2 fan design, even though the 13" has the same specs and runs with one fan.

    Thanks for any insight.

Since the MacBooks and MacBook Pros were introduced years ago they have always had different power supplies.

That's not what he's saying, he's saying that the low-end 15" MacBook Pro (the one without the dedicated graphics chip) has the 60W charger while the other 15" MacBook Pros with the graphics chips have the 85W charger.

I would assume that the power consumption relates down to the graphics chip as well, it is a dedicated chip, so it must draw enough energy to require the 85W charger to both charge and run the computer at the same time.

I'm talking specifically about the new 15" MBP. The power supply for the 15" 2.53 differs from the 15" 2.66 and 2.8 models.
