I am wondering if anyone is hearing that it will be strong enough to go through a third party thin case and stick to a magnetic mount in the car?

if so that will be great. if not, I would have to shell out the extra $ for a MagSafe case just to use for my car mount and not having to take it off to wireless charge.

Rumor is it doesn't work that well through a non-magsafe case. We'll see tomorrow when the reviews start to flood the internet.

Yeah if you want it to work with a case you will need a bumper or a case made for MagSafe. So Otto i think has made cases with magsafe built in.

spigen cases for example i don’t think will work

I have been using Caudabe for last 3 years just cause they are so thin and comfy and protect from 7 feet drops. ( I drop it a lot)

I’m thinking most 3rd party cases will start to make them MagSafe from now on but caudabe already made their 12 lineup ones without. Ugh

Let’s hope that MagSafe works through third-party cases. I’m almost certain that I’ll go ceaseless, but I always like to have backup options. While I like Apple’s leather cases, I don’t like the added bulk.

Caseless?! You’re one risky dude! That’s like meeting a woman at the bar fir the first time and taking her home with no condom.🤣

My assumption is that different accessories will have different strengths of magnets. A car dock would need to be stronger then say the MagSafe charger that Apple released so it may depend on the accessory but would obviously be stronger with a MagSafe case as well.

MagSafe is certainly strong enough on these new devices. I tried it out with my iPhone 12 Pro Case. Ohh wait you said third party... nm I have Apples case.

Yeah, I have a Caudabe too (Sheath) and MagSafe doesn't interest in me in the least. There are always third party magnetic car mounts where you can apply the magnet to your phone. It's not like you HAVE to get Apple's version.

Just received the Belkin MagSafe car mount.

Holds my iPhone 12 Pro Max (with original Apple Leather Case) very firmly. Great stuff!

Really! Can you take a video of you putting it on and off? Cause this would be great for me! What about in landscape?

So the built-in Magsafe magnets on the phone and MagSafe cases will stick to traditional car magnet mounts?
They will not, well not for me. And I been using magnetic car mounts for a while. The phone without a case will stick. But will fall off while driving. With the MagSafe case it will barely stick. But I just ordered the bodkin so hopefully that works
