magsafe power lead

Can I use any old figure of 8 lead with the magsafe, or do I need to use the one they provide (the extention lead)?

Also, will any old US to UK plug work, like the shaver plugs?

I bought a macbook from the USA, and I need to get the UK plug.

If I understand your question, you need a mains lead that fits onto the brick. It's a pretty specific connect and with a £500+ laptop at stake, you may be best served by getting the adapter from apple, rather than rigging shaver plugs.
