Sometimes here mostly there
I wondered if anyone tried to replace the Magsafe power cable in Apple Thunderbolt Display to USB C. I know there are some dongles but I tried 2 of them and they are really low quality. I have 2 Thunderbolt displays but now all my laptops (except of 1) are USB C. It annoys me that I have to connect power separately and would like to power from the screen. Anyone tried to replace the Magsafe part of the cable from the screen for USB C cable?

According to EverythingApplePro and Lewis from Unbox Therapy, every adapter they have tried has been junk and there is really no bringing back Magsafe for newer machines.

I think Mydel actually wanted the opposite... to somehow get the magsafe plug from the Thunderbolt display to provide power through a USB-C cable or adapter instead.

I disagree with their conclusions as you have stated them. I have an Antech USB cable with a magnetic connector that works just like Magsafe on my MBP. It isn't, however, capable of carrying data so it won't work for such applications.

Yes. I want to replace Magsafe with USB C cable. Without using adapter. Just connecting directly to power inside the display. Anyone tried that?
