I have an iwatch / iPhone charging station at my bedside so I am not in a hurry to buy a MagSafe charger just yet and prefer the much smaller footprint of a cord for travel.

But I do like the idea of the magnetic wallet so I am wondering if it will work with just a regular clear Spigen case or do I have to buy one of those dedicated $50 helipad marker looking ones in order to use the wallet?

It won’t work with a regular case, because a regular case will put too much non-magnetic material between the phone and the wallet.

The good morning America hands on thing showed the magnetic wallet slides around super easily. I would think any additional space between the magnet and the wallet will make it essentially useless. I’m anxious to see more hands on videos because even using it without a 3rd party case, the wallet still may barely hang on to the phone.

edit: I just watched the GMA video again and she doesn’t have a case on the phone. Maybe using an Apple case will help make the leather wallet stick better? Or maybe it slides around easily but won’t slide all the way off easily? Need to see more hands on vids

I figured, since I am in no hurry I will just wait to see what 3rd party options look like in a month or so.
