My blackbook's magsafe suddenly went dim green and will keep the laptop powered but wont charge the battery. Like if I let it drain to 70% and plug the charger back in it stays dim green and stuck at 70%. But, if i plug in my macbook pro's magsafe it charges fine, so is the magsafe from my macbook dying? If so, any change apple will replace it even though my macbook is out of warranty? It seems like they have been having a lot of trouble with the magsafes.

Read the additional information at the bottom of the article. Seems that if you keep your computer equipment in decent condition, you should be able to get a replacement even if you're out of warranty. Just cross your fingers and hope you get a good Apple employee. Best of luck!

Did you try this?

If you still haven't also try disconnecting the power adapter from the power outlet for a couple minutes before trying again.
You could also try resetting the SMC, but since the other magsafe adapter is working I doubt it will help.

If nothing works it seems to me that your magsafe is failing, as you already said.

Edit: skorpien was faster!

ok so now i have no idea whats going on with my macbook, the magsafe came back to life and is oragne, but won't charge the macbook past 99%, it just stays orange, any ideas? I can't believe this, literally the day before I'm going home to give this to my little sister. I have a genius bar appointment tomorrow morning, hopefully they can help...

Does your MBP's adapter charge your MB to 100%? I say you should still take it to the Apple store and explain your situation. The last thing you want is a faulty wire/adapter, especially if you're giving it to your sister (well, depends how good of siblings you are :p)

well now it appears to be fine, it charged to 100% and the led is bright green with the original charger, the charger shows no sign of wear and tear or burn marks as some seem to have. I'm officially stumped, I'll see what happens when I do a clean install of the OS tomorrow.
