"Steel in laminate mahogany finish". Christ. That has got to be the ugliest desk I've ever seen.

Agreed, I got one of these table tops with matching stainless legs from Ikea after seeing someone on this forum with the same setup. If you add the semi-circular black leather writing pad to shield your forearms from the cold steel then it is a really nice desk.

My advice is to keep it very simple and minimalist just like the iMac. Forget loads of shelves and stuff as this just makes everything look cluttered. I'll post a pic of my setup if I can find one. In the meantime, here is a link to the thread which inspired me to get one of these: https://forums.macrumors.com/threads/649044/ (look at post #63)

Cheers,
Craig.

wow. I thought Mahogany would have been darker...and the desk might look good.

the look of that desk is crap. mahogany or not it is awful.
that desk looks to be overkill too.

go for solid wood or look at Ikea for clean lines.

I loved the way they placed the speakers in the second pic.

Stereo separation? Whatever dude!

I guess everyone's table is better than mine.....

I picked up the $3.99 Vika Amon table 100x60cm in white.
I picked up 4 legs ($5 each) in red.
The chair $ 19.99 in red. I guess I was drinking too much coffee and trying to rush out of IKEA....

I do love that place! hahahahha!!

Now, tomorrow is Christmas and I was wondering if the 27" would last or hold up on this setup??

Any thoughts?

A $24 Table for a $2000 Computer. Ebenezer Scrooge would be envious.

Christmas will be 365 days a year with that setup.

I never cared for "computer desks" - they utilize space poorly. And they "force" you to put certain things _here_ and other things _there_. I want to choose where to put things.

I think the _best_ workspace for a computer is simply a broad, flat "tabletop". Go to an office supply outlet (Staples, OfficeMax) and pick up a "folding leg conference table". They generally come in 30"x60" and 30'x72" sizes, don't look awful, and are reasaonably cheap.

And they look "good enough" when set up.

Don't spend good money on just a table. Use old magazine stacks as legs and
use an old door as the top. Very green.

If you keep the area neat and tidy, the iMac will look good on any desk that suits your taste.

hahahahahahaha

Of course it will. Silver is paired with all kinds of woods in modern furnishings.
It pairs best with the walnuts and darker woods as black pairs nice with the lighter woods.
Home design is all about contrast to make things pop. You silver imac on a silver desk with a white wall is going to look like a college dorm.

An imac on a rich walnut desk(modern in style though) with a nicely painted wall is not going to look like a dorm.

Man some of these guys should not be giving out design advice.

Not at all. Glass, Black or a Gray desk.
