Does anyone know if there is a way to change the default destination of the new Archive button in Mail 5 on Lion?

currently Mail will try to archive mail to a folder called Archive. If there isnt one, it will create one.
This is noramlly ok except when using gmail.
If using gmail it creates a folder [IMAP]/archive which works fine as an IMAP folder, but if your using Google Sync Push on your iphone or ipad, the [IMAP]/ folders dont show up in your folder list

So i can see the folder in Gmail, IMAP but not in Google sync Push

If there was an option to 'use this mailbox for'->archive, like with Sent, Trash, Junk etc then this would be fine as you could set it to what you want.
Anyone any ideas on how to change the default location?

Thanks

That's a buzzkill. The Archive button in iOS Mail knows to put gmail mail that's being "archived" into the All Mail folder. It seems silly that the Archive button on Mail 5 would behave differently.

Actually, in Gmail, "Archive" should simply delete it from Inbox (or whatever label you're viewing) and leave it in All Mail. "Delete" should move it to Trash.

*sigh*

Back to using Mail Act-On for all of this.

I'd love to find a way to assign a custom destination folder for the "Archive" button (if not gmail) as I do not want to keep archived mails in my imap account but rather move them to a local folder.

Or at least give me a way to automatically move all mails from the default Archive folder to the folder of my choice. Unfortunately Mail.app does not seem to have a rule for parsing mails in a specific folder. Sigh.
