I have an email account on my iPhone that I would like to disable but just temporarily. When in settings, I try to toggle the button and it keeps popping back to green. I don’t want to delete the account. Any suggestions?
That didn’t work either. But thanks for tip. The toggle switch just flops back to green.Try with airplane mode on, then after you flicked the switch, turn off airplane mode.
It’s really weird as all the other toggles on the account like calendar, notes and contacts will toggle off. All work except for the email which keeps popping back to green and on.Other things I’d try is force quitting settings and restarting the phone but you probably tried that also.
Might sound silly but I’d try switching it on and off quickly a few times.
This has happened to me with an outlook exchange account but somehow the problem solved itself.
In any case you happen to solve the problem please update this thread. It’s really weird as all the other toggles on the account like calendar, notes and contacts will toggle off. All work except for the email which keeps popping back to green and on.
The only account that would let me toggle off the mail was my Apple “me” account. Two gmail account and my yahoo account will not toggle off. Interestingly, I can toggle them all off on my iPad - that is running iOS 12.1.1 and my iPhone is 12.3.
I will update if I get it figured out. I’ve tried everything, updated to the latest iOS and still the mail account won’t stay toggled off. I’ve searched the web and YouTube and all info says to do what I’m already doing. I guess the next step will be to stop by and see a Genius at Apple. In any case you happen to solve the problem please update this thread.
I have 4 accounts and only one will toggle off and that’s the Apple @me.com account. Neither of my 2 Gmail accounts or Yahoo account will shut off.I see you mentioned you don’t want to delete the account but have you tried deleting and setting it up again?
I have all the other sliders on green.Seeing the same on my Gmail accounts.
Bug, or...
Might be a "feature" where need to have at least one slider ticked on. On my two Gmail accounts, all items are off except for mail. Not eager to test, but maybe, if one other slider on (say "Notes"), then maybe can turn off mail.
