Got an email for a price increase from $10/yr to $40/yr for AirMail and not happy with their lack of development and still broken iPad experience so looking for a new mail program. I'd like to give Apple mail a shot but I really want sender icons from messages I get from businesses. I know Apple has BIMI support of some sort but seems inconsistent across platforms.

I did a test with LinkedIn - I get a LinkedIn logo icon on iPhone but not on MacOS (with all of the privacy boxes unchecked and nothing on the Viewing tab that looks relevant.

I plan to move my email to iCloud+ with a custom domain but have not made that switch yet for my primary domain so testing with LinkedIn emails is the easiest.

Is there a good Mail app people can recommend? Thanks

I get the LinkedIn icon (and other icons) in the Mail app on macOS (26.5.1)

Strange. I get an icon on my phone in the mail app for LinkedIn, but the corners are sharp/square in the icon not rounded like yours. I get no icons at all on the desktop. Any chance you have a contact saved with an icon for LinkedIn?

My troubleshooting and research on this says the only way icons appear in the Mail List view is if the business is registered with Apple Business Connect. BIMI icons will appear after the message is loaded assuming all other checks pass.

Canary mail!!

I have been using it for many many years and it keeps getting better. It's got encyption, tracker bockers, and read recipets. The pro upgrade is a ONE TIME FEE! No subscription. I paid the pro license for cross devices. I run Canary Mail on Mac, iOS, iPadOS, Android, and Windows. I have no linkedin contacts saved yet all of these emails populate with their respective icon.

Your read on this is right — two different systems doing the work. Apple Business Connect is what populates the rounded icon in the list view, and BIMI is the inline avatar that shows after a message opens. Most "where's my icon?" gaps on macOS come down to the specific sending address not being registered for Business Connect: LinkedIn for example registers some of their notification senders and not others, so you'll see the icon on something coming from messaging-noreply@linkedin.com and nothing on jobs-listings@linkedin.com. iCloud Mail handles this a bit more consistently than third-party IMAP did last time I compared, so once you move to your iCloud+ custom domain you may actually see more of the icons fill in. Side note for anyone reading on a Gmail-backed custom domain — Mimestream surfaces Gmail's BIMI logos in the list view, which Apple Mail still doesn't.
