Mail app freezes in a strange way

I went the entire day until now without getting an email. I didn't really think about it until I tried checking my mail. When I opened mail it was frozen. It wouldn't refresh, so I minimized to the tray, and then reopened it. The messages momentarily went blank and then the app crashed. When I restarted the app I suddenly had 12 emails going back to 7:00 AM. Weird.

I have had this happen about a dozen times lately, but this is the first time it has prevented new emails from coming through.

Anyone else?

Same thing has happened to me a couple of times. Don't know why.

I have had this a few times since iOS5, although after a few rebuilds I no longer get the mail app going blank it just freezes and after quitting the app I will find new messages.

And it's extremely intermittent. Fine one day, and whackadoo the next.
