Hello all,

Long time reader, first time posting... Great site!

This is one of those questions that are probably so simple, that I'm just not able to find it online.

I'm the only mac user in Windows networked office. My issue is that every now and then my mail server's (let's call it mailServer) ip address changes (I believe it's Mail Daemon on an XP machine).

In my previous life, when I used an xp machine, I could get by with writing mailServer in the pop and smtp fields. However, in Mail.app, for both incoming and outgoing POP server, I am forced to write the ip, because I just can't seem to get by with writing mailServer in those fields.

This get really annoying having to call up the IT guys to find out the new ip address.... Any ideas?

Thanks in advance,

Fauzi

First off Welcome. Im new too, but I have love this site and it has saved me a couple times as well.

Second: Wow that sucks. There's not much you can do. The IP address is crucial to any internet action. Especially email. My best suggestion is may be work out a deal with the IT boys and have them send you emails of the new IP address or have them inform you when ever it changes. Thats all I can really think on the top of my head.
