although, it does seem a bit odd that it doesn't work with.

yahoo.com pop accounts
sbcglobal.net pop accounts,
comcast.net pop accounts
gmail.com pop accounts
earthlink.com pop accounts
mindspring.com pop accounts,

at least not the ones I have.

I have sbcglobal and gmail. My Mail.app settings are to delete from server right away and it's always worked on my system.

okay,

NOW we are getting somewhere.

I'll run some more tests and wait a while.

alrighty

Allrighty, seems that one has to leave it a while.
strange that mail.app doesn't send the server update when it GETS mail. So, something is happening AFTER download and AFTER deleting and AFTER another get mail session, and AFTER about three minutes that it is updating the server AGAIN and saying, DELETE this mail.

WOW, really seems like there could be a delete from server AFTER deleting from mailbox only function, maybe mail.app.2.03

yes it does

yes it does, for one client only and not only for delete, but for move OR delete from inbox, differant thing my friend.

I have comcast POP mail, and one day I wanted to see what the 'Rebuild' button did. Well once pushing it it downloaded 1000 email messages that for some reason mail didint delete after retrieving it. Changed the settings for deleting messages off server, but it did the same thing. the only way i can get it to work is to click the remove now button.

Solution?

Anyway, have you finally found the solution to this? I'm experiencing exactly the same problem and I've unsuccesfully tried with the "When moved from Inbox" option as well; it's really disappointing to get to the conclusion that this main application of the MAC OS can´t handle such simple and basic function!
