Hello,

Often when opening the mail app on iPad Pro 9.7” it selects an old email from days or sometimes even weeks ago and will keep showing this email when I open the app despite having received and opened many new emails since. I must scroll up and select a new email at the top only to find on return it goes back to the old email. When this happens there is no obvious reason as to why that particular old email is selected, but once it happens it keeps showing that same email.

Anyone else experiencing this or have any suggestions to stop it happening?
I’ve tried restarting the iPad and ‘reset all setting’ but it continues to happen. It also happened on my old iPad which has since been replaced under warranty.

Thanks

Only thing I can suggest is to delete your e-mail account from Mail and set it up again. It really should only take 2 minutes max to enter your user id/screen name and password. Don’t forget your preferences in advanced. For example if you use Gmail it will default to archive when you delete mail instead of trash. Good luck!

check the date of the email.
is the date correct? or, possibly wrongly set to one in the future?
sometimes spammers use this trick to get their email at the top of latest-email-on-top sorted email.

Thanks for the replies.

The date is correct and the email is definitely not spam. Currently the selected email is always the same message from 13th February, but after a period of time it will be a different old email from a different date.

I will try deleting my email account but I’m not confident this will help as I had this same problem with another iPad.

Ive had this problem before. Try moving that message to a different folder. For me, the affected message was one I could delete, so getting rid of it resolved the problem.

Thanks. I will delete the message and hope the problem doesn't return this time, but I know from the past it would eventually just pick another old email and keep selecting that. I'm glad to hear that it is not just me experiencing this though.

My iPad, so far, hasn't latched onto a new message, and it's been several months.
