I'm on 10.3.9 and when I try to open mail.app the icon shows up in the dock for a second then disappears. It will not open no matter what I do.

Here's what I've tried so far:
- Repairing permissions via Disk Utility
- Creating a new dummy account and trying to open Mail.app there - no luck

I've also noted that in both my own account and the dummy account there is no user/Library/Mail directory.

Also, in checking Console after trying to launch Mail.app it lists this:

dyld: /Applications/Mail.app/Contents/MacOS/Mail can't open library: /usr/lib/libsqlite3.0.dylib (No such file or directory, errno = 2)

Any ideas?

Weird. Have you used any apps like Monolingual to get rid of language or system files? Maybe try reinstalling Mail from the OSX discs. You might need Pacifist to find and extract it. 🙂
