Anyone else experiencing this issue? Admittedly, I have not tested in a new user or removed/re-added accounts, or done really any troubleshooting other than sending the crash logs to Apple.

It started happening in DP1 so I can only deduce that it's related. Thought it would be fixed in DP2. The app now visibly opens for a few seconds and then crashes again. So some progress, at least. Lol.

    Anyone else?

I've had the mail.app crash in 10.11.5 multiple times because of mails from twitter. Don't ask me why they made the app crash, because there was nothing fishy about those mails. They were nothing but round-ups of some tweets.

Anyway, the point is that you may be experiencing something similar, i.e. there may be some mails in your inbox that the mail.app "can't handle". The way I got around it was by quickly selecting a mail that I knew wouldn't crash the app, and then deleting the mails which caused the problems without opening them.

And yes; I have sent crash-reports to Apple.

It does not matter which email I select, the app crashes within seconds. I'll do some testing this afternoon and report back, but still convinced its a problem with Sierra for now.

Sounds fair. Try clearing your cache while you're at it.

Do you use Gmail? I had this problem way back with Yosemite, and it persisted from the beta to 10.10.1 :(

I have a couple gmail accounts in the mix, one that's Zoho based and tied to a domain I own, and my iCloud email. Going to remove the Google accounts from internet accounts and test again.

Edit: thanks for the heads up. That completely fixed the issue. I will add the Gmail accounts back one by one and see what happens...

Whats the crash report say? I get an a crash on Beta 2 after the update from Beta 1 on Mail and Messages, and the crash logs look related to metal apis.

Mine was definitely related to the Gmail account, and I'm not experiencing crashes any longer. Didn't happen to save a report, sorry :/

But simply removing all my Google accounts and then adding them back did it for me.
