Mail attachments

For some reason Mail seems to be compressing .jpgs and other attachments into unviewably small sizes. I have looked around but can't seem to find any setting that would make it do that. I havn't had any complaints yet, so has Apple just changed the way in which Mail displays an image? But the thing is when I quick view, it still looks like crap. Any ideas?

EDIT: Yep, just got my first complaint!
