Is there a way to " train' Mail by e.g. enterering criteria such as particular words in a mail title or certain names of senders from which one does not want to receive mail in the inbox but instead automatic redirected to a folder like "unwanted mail'

In Preferences, turn on Junk Mail Filtering.

Some will still get through, but you can mark messages as junk as they come in and it learns what you are marking as junk and learns acordingly.

It works pretty well

Edit: You can also use the Rules - also in preferences to filter certain messages to certain folders. I do it to keep work, personal and study separate.
