HELP!!! Have a client that has three of these Iphones. When they are off or set to manual email checking, the client can get there regular PC based outlook email on their PC's. As soon as the Iphones are used to check mail, their PC based outlook email program can no longer connect. The error received seems to indicate the the Iphones are locking up the pop3 connection to the server emails. I have the server set to 50 concurrent connections and it still hangs. Anybody got a clue here about this? My client is about to take ALL his business elsewhere. Please help!!!

You didn't mention what pop mail program they are connecting to, which might be helpful. Some pop mail daemons will create a lock file upon connection by a client to prevent the program from stepping all over itself. The concurrent connections you mentioned are probably for a discreet number of users, not the same user that many times.

The mail server is MailEnable Standard 1.95 with a Plesk control panel on a Windows 2003 web edition server. It also appears that just using 1 Iphone checking 1 of the 5 accounts causes them all to be locked up although we are not sure.

Suggestion was made on another list to disable the pop3 locking on the server, unfortunately that had already been done prior to the existence of this account. Do Iphones have some type of pop3 lock? is there some other protocol that can be used? HELP!!!

iphone locking plesk

I am experiencing the same issue.. I have a dedicated server and I am running plesk / mailenable....

when the iphone connects to the server, my pc cannot connect for a while..

I need to solve this as some of my clients got the iphone and are complaining about the password thing.

It looks like this issue was never solved.. or revisited for a while now..

Is there a solution?

thanks

Jeff

I too, am experiencing this problem. I just updated the latest version of the iphone software and all issues remain.
Please post a solution/workaround if you have one.

I found this thread because I noticed on my mail server that when we check our email from the iPhone, the connection seems to finish on the phone (the mail is downloaded) but the mail server is not receiving a Quit command from the phone & so the mailbox stays locked for about a couple of minutes until the mail server times it out. I haven't been able to find anything on why the phone is not sending the Quit command so the Pop3 connection ends gracefully.

It's baaaack!

Okay, I never got an answer the first time ad ended up losing the client. Changed servers and forgot about it...Until now. Have ANOTHER client who's IT guy (who hates us) is having the same problem. What is it with these people that have to check their email in 3 different places at the same time!

Has anybody found a solution to this issue?
