My mum rang me this morning – ready to throw her iMac away...

She has had an ongoing problem with photos being sent which are somehow getting corrupted – missing parts, grey and blue banding, etc.

I was actually able to replicate this on my own PC using my dotmac account, so it's not her computer and it's not the image and it's not Mail. It must be something to do with the servers at Apple.

Has anybody else experienced this? I haven't found much in the big webland.

I suspect it is caused by slow upload speeds, and the connection timing out or something.

Jpegs are fine in the cloud (iCloud.com), so it's Apple Mail that isn't handling the files properly.

It's unlikely that Apple is going to provide a fix for this, I'd say, as it's probably old software not working with newer software.

And if that's the case it's not acceptable.

Have you tried a tiny picture that will quickly upload?

I just tried my @iCloud.com account and it sent a 5mb photo as expected from Mail.

This link may help.

I think it has to do with older version of OSX and what we might call legacy software. She's probably on Leopard, I'd have to check that. but I think so.
