So, for the past week I have been unsuccessful in being able to use my Mail application. When I open it, in a matter of 10 seconds it shuts down due to an "unknown error". I have ran disk utility and it has found no problems.

Anybody have some advice for me? I know I can simply use firefox to access my mail, but the fact that the program wont open is starting to irritate me.

For what it's worth, when I report the problem, I did come across this:
Exception Type: EXC_BAD_ACCESS (SIGBUS)
Exception Codes: KERN_PROTECTION_FAILURE at 0x0000000000000000
Crashed Thread: 12

alright I think I fixed it. (found this tip on Apple support) I made a new user id, opened mail, and took the /library/preferences/com.apple.mail.pflist (i'm pretty sure thats the name, i'm at work right now). replaced my pflist from my main user id (the broken one) and it worked!!! Give it a try, backup the old pflist just incase though. I don't know if it erases previous emails or not, but i have mobile me so they get sent anyway. Hope that helps
