Mail doesn't start hidden

Hey there. For some reason Mail does not start hidden if I set it to start on login. It opens but it opens the Mail window and it remains open. The same does not happen with Itunes for example.

Is this a known problem and is there a way to fix this?

im pretty sure this has been an issue for a while now. heres to hoping it gets fixed in snow leopard lol.
