Since gmail doesn't have pop support, is there a software that will check gmail?

I found gcount, but it only shows the number of emails on either the dock or the top bar. Oh well, it's better than nothing

Since GMail is still Beta, I heard that many of the POP apps for the PC are broken now as they continually refine the log in and authenttication routines for Gmail.
