Mail function read receipt emails

How do I set up my Mac Mail so that I know when e-mails I have sent have been read? Thank you in advance.

There is not any built in option to use read receipts, but I have seen hacks like this to enable it. Even when enabled, the recipient mail client would also have to support mail read receipts.

(I have not tried the hack linked, so make sure you backup before messing around with this.)
