Hello!

I recently recieved my first mac, mba 13''. I am not sure how the Mail app works, it seems like I've added both of my email adresses (gmail and hotmail) however there is a gmail adress clone in the left column (see screenshot). That shortcut or inbox or what ever it is, doesnt update at all and keeps showing 7 new messages all the time.

How do you get rid of that box!!?

Thank you very much :p

That "clone" in the bottom is your entire Gmail hierarchy (folders/tags/labels other than Inbox and the others at the top). The "7" is the total unread in the account, so somewhere you have 7 unread messages archived.

If you click the disclosure triangle by Inbox at the top and select your Gmail inbox, then type unread in the search box, choose "Status is unread" from the autocomplete list. Then you can find the 7 and mark them read.
