so...
i just did a clean install of os x.
im trying to set up mail. but every time i set it up, it keeps downloading every single email. its really annoying.

im not going to sit here and organize, sort and delete 6k+ emails from 5 different accounts.

i used to be able to just download the newest emails, then do as i wish with them, and the emails would still be fine on there respective accounts.

i tried a bunch of different setting from gmail, and tried pop and imap.

o and plus, i started organizeing them, and they are not organized on the account now. wtf. and i can't even make new folders to sort them in, or for that matter delete them

To get around this problem, you should set up Mail to only talk to GMail over IMAP, then have GMail collect mail from the other accounts. You will still be able to choose which e-mail address to send from if you so wish, but in the meantime if you do have to rebuild your computer your mail is already organised in your GMail box exactly how you want it.
