Hi there,

I know I can take an email (IMAP) account offline on Mail by right clicking on it and take it offline from there, but once I click on the messages list and start navigating the list, Mail automatically brings it back online.

I've set the "Check for new messages" setting to "Manually", but it still doesn't work.

Any ideas? I want to be able to focus on work emails I have to go through without getting disturbed with new mails.

I have several iMap email accounts setup in Mail and checked to see how mine behaved.

I had a similar experience as you for one of my iMap accounts, but the other accounts stayed off line.

I then selected "Take All Accounts Offline" again from the "Mailbox" menu and then "Quit" mail. I then re-opened mail and the accounts are no longer being brought back online automatically.

There may be some background processes that are preventing mail from really taking mail off line. Try taking your mail off line and then quit and re-open mail.

Thanks @cobracnvt, that indeed worked - taking all accounts offline and restarting Mail.

However, once I reenable an account and take it offline again, the same behavior happens. That sounds like a Mail bug, but at least I know a workaround for now. :)
