Know I get a message every time I try and send an email from iCloud.

The server address myemail@icloud.com was rejected by the server. How can this be fixed?

Sounds like you need to check your outgoing mail server settings.

    Settings>Password & Accounts>iCloud>Advanced>Mail

Make sure you enable “Allow Sending From” the following email address below normally @icloud.com or @me.com or both.

Then check “Outgoing Mail Server” SMTP settings. Fill in the option field for username and password for your iCloud mail and hit “Done” and try again.

A similar thing has been happening sporadically to me for several days.

It seems that the Apple Mail server no longer likes me.com addresses for sending emails. These days it is an alias for icloud.com so I tried changing the sender to xxx@icloud.com and this worked. I haven't tried the tip of unchecking the account and checking it again (too many emails in the account!).

If this is the case (me.com no longer supported) it will confuse recipients of my emails if I have to start using an icloud address.

Know I am getting this message on my Mac. I am only able to send mail by logging into iCloud.com and not from my Mac or any iOS device.

The server response was: From address is not one of your addresses
Select a different outgoing mail server from the list below or click Try Later to leave the message in your Outbox until it can be sent.

If it is grayed out, can you try this Settings>Apple ID>iCloud>Mail>Off then toggle back on after a minute an test.

If still doesn't work, sign out of iCloud entirely, then sign back in.

I'm having no issue with my @me.com.

I just spent an hour troubleshooting this issue for my father's account. He has been using his @me.com email address and we just updated his computer's OS to Mojave.

He has three email/domain options that can be used for this apple id: @mac.com @icloud.com and @me.com. I noticed on his Mac that it had his apple id labeled using the @mac.com domain, which is incorrect. So, on a whim, I decided to log into his appleid account using Safari and check the settings. Sure enough, the @mac.com address was checked (I was able to send emails using that email)

By selecting his @me.com address as the account name for his apple id, his emails started sending again using the @me.com address.

So, if you're trying to use an @icloud.com domain, just login to appleid.com and select the @icloud.com as your apple id.

Yep - @Mac, @me and @icloud have been interchangeable for me for several years. I have been able to send mail from any. It has actually been quite handy since they work like aliases. Signing out then back in might fix it, but for how long? Is Apple thinking of withdrawing @Mac and @me addresses?

Apple engineering is investigating similar issues. I worked with them thru Twitter and they know the outgoing smtp servers are having connectivity issues. But please report it to them

Yeah, I had the same issue trying to forward my resume to a recruiter (of all times for it to go down). I called Apple Support because they're showing all services as up. From what I've read, this has been going on several days. Hardly a "green" status if you ask me.

Confirmed - multiple people I work with having the same issues including myself. It is intermittent.

Yep. Earlier it would time out after 3-4 minutes and give the connection error for the SMTP server on my iPhone. Recently after the failure it does deliver emails. Strange

Definitely an intermittent issue for me.
Hangs on first attempt at sending, then goes through a while later… No problem with incoming mail though.

This has got much worse overnight. Now I cannot send @icloud or @me emails from Mac or iPad. Maybe the servers have changed due to the macOS and iOS updates released today?

Update: don't want to jinx myself but @Mac just worked! I agree that contacting Apple Support is important to get the issue recognised and resolved. A similar thing happened several years ago.

CONTACT APPLE SUPPORT. Its the only way we can get their attention. My outgoing emails are delayed by 10-15 minutes and sometimes timeout.

Update: Apple now lists this as an issue on their status site. And I just sent an email and it worked quickly. I guess it will be fixed shortly
