I had two computers and i'm now i want to consolidate and start using one, so i dragged my mail folder from the one i'm no longer using (from the user>libraries>mail) to and external hd, because i'm going to erase it, and i wanted to move all the messages on the hd to the other computer. I think i remember doing this before so i manually dragged the messages in the same folder on the othe mac, they were all for different accounts and the messages were appropriately dropped in the correcte messages folders for the correct accounts, but the didn't show up in mail, so i restarted and nothing. The emails i dragged into the messages folders are still in my folders on the new mac, but they do not show up when i open mail.

take them out of the mail folder and choose 'import mailboxes' from mail instead. It'll copy them there and recognize them.

uh, yeah it does. That's how it's done.

it doesnt' i did it. you have to take all the messages in your accounts, create a mailbox on your mac for them. Drag them into the newly created mailboxes on your make and then transfer them. but if you reference the inbox of your accounts, even though there are dl messages, they're not recognized.

Whatever you say dude. Just trying to help.

You could also just open the mailbox you are trying to import by double-clicking it, Apple+a (select all) and drag and drop into your other box of you just want to merge them.

Yeah no worries, i don't know maybe my computers wierd, had problems with itunes too, but i tried everything. i tried importing them, dragging the messages into the inboxes of the laptop manually, i even deleted and reinstalled the programs, which i found out later i didn't have to. the only thing that worked was what i wrote above. anyway got it done now thank god. thanks.
