Mail Missing Original Message

Every once in awhile when I hit reply on my mail, my original message goes missing. And the only way I can resolved it, to double click on message which opens the message fully then hit reply.

See attachement. Any ideas? I've tried searching and came up empty. Thank you.

This is because you've highlighted some part of the original message and hit "reply."

To prevent this, make sure no part of the original message is highlighted when you Reply.

You can also change the settings to include the full message. From the composing section of Mail's preferences:
