Just got my Mac today! First timer. I use gsuite emails and have always used the gmail web page on laptop to access... do Mac users use the apple mail program to access or do you mostly use the gmail app?
Not sure if there is other options?

You can do either. The Mail app that comes with MacOS is capable of interacting with Gmail.

I use Mail to connect to an email account but not Gmail. I don't use the Gmail account enough for it to matter.

MacOS Mail works fine with a Gmail account. There isn't a separate app called "Gmail" for the Mac but there is the Gmail web interface. From what I've observed, Gmail emails arrive in your macOS Mail inbox just about instantly.

For iOS, there is a Gmail app from Google and many people use it for one reason or another...the main one probably being that mail is instantly pushed to the app. The iOS Mail app will, at best, check your standard Gmail account every 15 minutes.

When I had Gmail I just used the web page. Now that I don't have Gmail anymore and have an iCloud email I use the Mac Mail app, its very nice and works great for me. Now the iOS Mail app is a little glitchy, sometimes I have to delete emails multiple times from my Inbox as they like to reappear

I use an app called MailPlane on my MacBook to access my personal GMail email. On iOS I use Apple's mail app for Gmail. I do like the idea of switching to iCloud for email but I've heard bad things - lots of spam and I'd have to change my Apple ID which seems like would cause other issues.

I use the Mail app on my MacBook Pro, iPad and iPhone. Everything is sync. That’s one of the many reasons I love Apple.

Two Gmail accounts. I'm an Apple Mail user on both Mac and iOS. Only time I use Gmail app or go to the Gmail website is to mark an email as spam (so that it filters on Google side vs. Mac Mail rules), and Gmail website for adding/editing mail filters.

Otherwise, Mail app works for me with no complaints.

Take notice of the issue that Mac Mail app on macOS Mojave has a tendency to open over your other windows because it checks for e-mail. There's a few other threads about this. I took off Gmail within Mail and the application doesn't popup anymore. I admit to not having tried it with latest 10.14.6 with supplement update.

Look in Mial’s string for GMail checking here: https://www.solveyourtech.com/how-to-increase-mail-frequency-check-in-mac-os-x-mountain-lion/

I'm not interested in checking for e-mail more often - initially my comment was about the fact that, because of my own experience, Mail can't tackle having a Gmail account. Mail will, no matter what on Earth you're doing on your Mac, pop up. As in, showing its entire application window in a screen recording or something to that effect.

Edit.. also, to prevent myself from spreading misinformation I'd like users to read my comment a little higher up as I admit to not having tried in on later Mojave releases other than 10.14.6 without the recent supplement update.

Been working with Spark. It's very nice and clean to use. Basic calendar is also nice.
