Mail not deleting messages

I have a problem with mail not deleting old messages, the messages when clicked on are empty and when i hit delete it just grays the title and the only option is undelete.

Who is your mail provider and what protocol do you use to access your mail?

Is this a recent problem, or has this problem always persisted?

Select Mailbox from the top bar and click rebuild
