Mail not in landscape

Have Ipad 2, latest software with developer xcode for multi finger swiping.

In landscape position when you click 'Mail' it appears correct for split second then fills screen in portrait mode.

Any ideas why?

Do you have the Orientation Lock set to ON?

otherwise, try to restart your iPad.
