Mail not recognising password/email

My Mail has been working fine for at least one year. On thursday my Mail on my MacBook Air would not send emaiI - it received only. I had this problem last year and the answer was to delete account and then re-establish account. So I tried to do that and it won't accept my email or password to create the account again. I have 10.14.4 Mojave.



I have Spectrum .twc.com and email is working fine on their webmail.



I have called Apple and Spectrum and no-one can find an answer to this problem. Also I just used my ipad and it receives and sends mail just fine on my ipad under the same email/password as on my Mail on MacBook as above.



So now I believe it could be Mojave problem. I have talked to people at apple/spectrum for 3 hours and they cannot resolve it yet!



Does anyone have an answer to this please

hi

since the one screen shot you shared showed the setup's reluctance to get past that first screen, its a password or user name problem.
since the account is not set up, its trivial to make sure that in mail/icloud/mail settings that the account is totally deleted then get back to the screen you show in yr screenshot.
if it again gives you the same problem, it is either a password or username problem.

once you can get beyond the above screen, the settings are as below.
below settings are from apple's own site as to what is recommended settings for yr provider

thank you - I have been on the phone with apple/spectrum for over 3 hours - password been changed etc. to see if that works but doesn't -used mozilla thunderbird email on macbook - won't take email/password either - webmail works and it all works fine on ipad Mail - my conclusion its probably a Mojave problem but I will have to call Apple again to see if thats correct possibility

Have you rebooted the Mac? I know, that sounds condescending, but I have seen issues with encryption that get wonky and a reboot often helps.

I have similar issues with Comcast email on one of my Macs, but not the other... both running Mojave.
