OS 11.1.1. on MBP using Mail 11.4.
When downloading email a little screen pops up in the upper right corner and says something like "8 new notifications." Usually I receive less new email than what is says on the "notifications." It may say 8 and I only receive 4. There does not need to be other unread email in my folders for this to happen, so it is not simply a total of my unread email.
Also, when I click on the envelope to download email a message appears on the bottom of my folder column saying e.g. "Downloading Messages, 9 new messages. It takes a few minutes (3-5) for this to happen. Sometimes it downloads messages, other times it does not. However, as soon as that message goes away I can click on the envelope again and it will then immediately download email, no waiting. It may download email even though it had just been through the earlier round and did not down load them.
Any idea what is going on here?
