Mail on iPhone keeps using data

When i open my mail, the little data spinning dial at the top never stops spinning. I thought it was just my EDGE was slow, but even on wifi, it keeps going, and drains my batt a lot when i'm looking through emails that have already been downloaded. Is there any reason for it to be doing this?

Well, I'm going to assume its because when you're in the Mail app, it keeps refreshing. So, in order for it to keep refreshing, it'll use data.

Probably the service you use for email.

I use Gmail, and it used to always update, and then stop.
