Mail Question

I am new to Mail. I use it for my GMAIL account.

Whenever I use mail at home, its great. But when I go to work and go to gmail.com it is never up to date with what I did when I used MAIL.

Is there a setting that I could change to make it up to date and more synced?

It's been a while since I set up gmail with Mail.app, but it does work. I use Mail.app at home and mail.google.com at work.
