For some unknown reason, Mail is taking a long time to close. After a couple of minutes it finally closes, but it literally takes about 2 minutes. Watching it in Activity Monitor it isn't using any "%CPU", but it is using memory.

I have tried force quit, rebooting and cold reboot. When I reopen and then attempt to close Mail, the same thing.

thanks for any insight

I just started having the same issue. Mail is really slow to close and also, when I select the Junk button it takes a couple of minutes to move the message from the inbox to the junk folder.

I have a 6 month old ibook with 1G of memory.

Any ideas?

Thanks!

If you're using .Mac as a mail server it's likely due to mail still "synching" with the server.
For example any email thats like html or attachments of any size.If the message wasnt fully downloaded when you tried to close mail thats the reason..

Could be the same with other mail servers too.

Same here. I've noticed this since updating to 10.4.4 Hope this is resolved in 10.4.5
